There’s something about French Men…

There is a certain charisma that French actor Jean Dujardin exudes off the screen. Something that not just any actor could pull off without speaking!
When I stumbled across these photos in this months GQ I had to share with you! Jean Dujardin to me seems like a more charming, dashing version of Jon Hamm. Maybe it’s the accent? Check out this great quote from his GQ interview; “I learned to tap-dance for The Artist. I love dancing in general, and making girls dance. My generation doesn’t do it enough.” YES! All men take note.
Enjoy the fashion in this photo spread. Lots of stylish plaid suits to come for spring/summer.

Notice, no socks? If you are wearing a light summer suit it is essential that you do not wear any socks! Which means you’d better be wearing some nicely kept leather loafers!

Plaid shirt with a plaid suit. This works because of the ratio the shirt to the suit. The shirt has more of a bold larger check, and the suit is subtle. The pocket square keeps it nice and classy, despite the lack of tie.

This is a bold look, you’d have to be very confidant to pull this one off! Reminds me of 1970′s James Bond. If you want to try this, avoid over referencing the 70′s by keeping your shoes modern and your lapel and shirt collar narrow.

Every guy should try this look. It’s a classic, and one of my personal favorites. You could wear this with dark jeans for a semi-casual look or wear the full suit to a wedding, without overdoing it. Notice the pocket square? I’m sensing the pocket square is the new tie.
If you haven’t seen it yet, here is the trailer for The Artist. (I recommend checking it out before The Oscar’s on Feb 26th, because its sure to win)
Best And Worst Dressed at the 2012 Golden Globes

We saw lots of pale pinks and grey as well as a few peacock blues. Here are my votes for the best and worst dressed at the Golden Globes. The best dress are in order of my favorites. Take a look and tell me if I missed any of your favorites!
Best Dressed:

Nicole Kidman in Versace.
I can’t remember the last time she looked so amazing! She looks like a beautiful Greek statue! This shape is stunning on her, and it seems like she has stopped getting work done, which means we can see her smiling again!
Sophia Vergara in Vera Wang.
It’s not that different of a look for Sophia, but she knows what works for her curvy body type. I loved the colour and the close up red carpet shots, the bottom of the dressed looked really beautiful.

Reese Witherspoon in Zac Posen.
I don’t know what was but she was glowing last night! I’m not normally a huge fan of her on the red carpet but she looks absolutely stunning here. I especially love her make up, very subtle but enough to make an impact.

Claire Danes in J. Mendel.
She was one of the first people I saw on the red carpet and I instantly loved her dress. She always opts for something pretty classic, but the back adds an edgy twist.

Salma Hayek in Gucci.
I loved the close up shots of this dress. I liked that it was a bit different from most styles that were on the red carpet. Just when you think Salma couldn’t be more beautiful she knocks one out of the park!

Charlize Theron in Dior.
At first glance I wasn’t sure about this dress, but the more and more I saw it I grew to love it. I also loved her hair and make up. It completes the overall look perfectly.
Worst Dressed:
Most people on the red carpet played it pretty safe and looked beautiful, but unfortunately there was 2 people that didn’t quite do it for me. Here are my picks for worst dressed;

Zooey Deschanel in Prada.
I hate to say this, because I am a huge fan of Zooey’s but this dress was not flattering on her petite frame, and her hair…yikes. You can’t really tell in this photo, but in some angles, one of her layers looked like side burns…not a look you want to go for. On a brighter note, her make up looked amazing!

Angelina Jolie in Atelier Versace.
When she first hit the red carpet I didn’t mind this dress, but as the night grew on she looked uncomfortable and cold. The fabric of this dress cheapened it to me, and I did not like how thin she looked last night.
Did you enjoy the awards last night? I felt Ricky Gervais was quite safe last night…there was a few good one liners from Seth Rogan and Meryl Streep! I’m glad The Artist won a few awards, it was a great film. Michelle Williams did a great job in My Week With Marilyn so she deserved the win, even though I’m not sure why it that film was categorized as a comedy/musical…The Golden Golbes are usually a hint as to what we will see at the Oscars, so it should be interesting to see if a few of the same people bring home the win!
My Golden Globe Predictions

I like when they mix TV and Film stars together. I will be posting my votes for best and worst dressed tonight, but here is my predictions on who a few of the winners could be.
BEST MOTION PICTURE – DRAMA
- THE DESCENDANTS
Ad Hominem Enterprises; Fox Searchlight Pictures - THE HELP
DreamWorks Pictures, Participant Media; Touchstone Pictures - HUGO
Paramount Pictures presents a GK Films Production; Paramount Pictures - THE IDES OF MARCH
Columbia Pictures, Cross Creek Pictures, Exclusive Media Group, Crystal City Entertainment; Sony Pictures Releasing - MONEYBALL
Columbia Pictures; Sony Pictures Releasing International - WAR HORSE
DreamWorks Pictures; Touchstone Pictures
I really wanted to see The Descendants before tonight, but I never got the chance. I heard it was good. I have a feeling that The Help is going to win this one.
BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTRESS IN A MOTION PICTURE – DRAMA
- GLENN CLOSE in Albert Nobbs
- VIOLA DAVIS in The Help
- ROONEY MARA in The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo
- MERYL STREEP in The Iron Lady
- TILDA SWINTON in We Need to Talk About Kevin
Meryl Streep once said; the way to win an award is to do a bio-pic, which means she probably will win for her portrayal as Margaret Thatcher. However I think Viola Davis should win. She had a Stellar performance by her in The Help.
BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTOR IN A MOTION PICTURE – DRAMA
- GEORGE CLOONEY in The Descendants
- LEONDARDO DICAPRIO in J. Edgar
- MICHAEL FASSBENDER in Shame
- RYAN GOSLING in The Ides Of March
- BRAD PITT in Moneyball
Again we have a bio-pic actor, Leonardo Dicaprio, so the vote could go to him- but I think Brad Pitt deserves and award; however Ryan Gosling is well overdue. This one will keep us on the edge of our seats for sure!
BEST MOTION PICTURE – COMEDY OR MUSICAL
- 50/50
Summit Entertainment and Mandate Pictures; Summit Entertainment - THE ARTIST
a La Petite Reine – Studio 37 – La Classe Americaine – JD Prod- France3 Cinema – Jouror Production-uFilms coproduction; The Weinstein Company - BRIDESMAIDS
Universal Pictures, Relativity Media, Apatow Productions; Universal Pictures - MIDNIGHT IN PARIS
A Mediapro, Versatil Cinema & Gravier Production; Sony Pictures Classics - MY WEEK WITH MARILYN
The Weinstein Company; The Weinstein Company
I’ve seen all of these nominations and I loved each and every one! I have a feeling it could go to The Artist, since it was so different…but I have a major soft spot for Midnight in Paris, it was one of my favorite films of the year!
BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTRESS IN A MOTION PICTURE – COMEDY OR MUSICAL
- JODIE FOSTER in Carnage
- CHARLIZE THERON in Young Adult
- KRISTIN WIIG in Bridesmaids
- MICHELLE WILLIAMS in My Week With Marilyn
- KATE WINSLET in Carnage
If you want to give the award to a true comedic actor, I think the award goes Kristen Wiig, but Michelle Williams did an amazing job as Marilyn Monroe, and its a bio-pic so I think she might take this one. The tricky part is these two are up against two very popular award winners; Kate Winslet and Jodie Foster.
BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTOR IN A MOTION PICTURE – COMEDY OR MUSICAL
- JEAN DUGARDIN in The Artist
- BRENDAN GLEESON in The Guard
- JOSEPH GORDON-LEVITT in 50/50
- RYAN GOSLING in Crazy, Stupid, Love
- OWEN WILSON in Midnight In Paris
Man, this one is a hard one for me to pick…Jean Dujardin did an amazing job in The Artist, but he didn’t actually speak! Joseph Gorden-Levitt was so raw and emotional in 50/50 that I think he could be a serious contender, but I think Ryan Gosling could potentially take this one…he’ll either get one for Ides of March or Crazy, Stupid, Love. I preferred him in this film because it was a role we haven’t really seen him play before and he knocked it out of the park!
BEST TELEVISION SERIES – DRAMA
- AMERICAN HORROR STORY (FX)
Twentieth Century Fox Television - BOARDWALK EMPIRE (HBO)
Leverage, Closest to the Hole Productions, Sikelia Productions and Cold Front Productions in association with HBO Entertainment - BOSS (STARZ)
Lionsgate Television in association with Grammnet NH Productions, Roya Productions and Old Friends Productions - GAME OF THRONES (HBO)
Bighead, Littlehead, 360 Television, Grok and Generator Productions in association with HBO Entertainment - HOMELAND (SHOWTIME)
SHOWTIME Presents, Teakwood Lane Productions, Cherry Pie Productions, Keshet, Fox 21
I think Game of Thrones should win, but Boardwalk Empire has Martin Scorsese behind the show, and they have won in the past. Game of Thrones has my vote! ( I’m majorly looking forward to April when season 2 comes out!)
BEST TELEVISION SERIES – COMEDY OR MUSICAL
- ENLIGHTENED (HBO)
Ripcord Productions in association with HBO Entertainment - EPISODES (SHOWTIME)
SHOWTIME Presents, Hat Trick Productions, Crane Klarik Productions - GLEE (FOX)
Ryan Murphy Television in association with Twentieth Century Fox Television - MODERN FAMILY (ABC)
Levitan-Lloyd Productions in association with Twentieth Century Fox Television - NEW GIRL FOX
Chernin Entertainment in association with Twentieth Century Fox Television
I just watched all of the first season of Enlightened in one weekend and thoroughly enjoyed it. But I think this one will be a toss-up between Glee and Modern Family. We all could get a surprise and New Girl could take it, it has been getting lots of buzz.
What are some of your predictions? Do you agree with what I have chosen? I guess we will have to wait until tonight and officially find out. I’ve been looking forward to this awards show because Ricky Gervais is just plain awesome. I saw in an interview that he is NOT handing in his jokes for approval, which means its going to be just as funny as last year! I mean honestly, when was the last time you laughed out loud during an awards show? This guy MAKES the show!
Best Dressed at The 2012 People’s Choice Awards

Everyone seemed to go quite tame and a little on the casual side this year. However, I was able to scrounge a few favorites, and of course my least favorites!
Best Dressed Female:

From the new series “Once Upon A Time”, Ginnifer Goodwin. Amazing hair, stunning make up, shoes are killer and that dress is bold but fits her like a glove. A+ for her!
Best Dressed Man:

Ian Somerhalder from the show “Vampire Diaries”. Had he worn a tie with the pocket square it would have been too dressy. He had the perfect amount of class for an event like this.
Worst Dressed Female:

Kelly Osbourne. Considering she’s is on E! Channel’s “Fashion Police” you’d think she would have made a little more effort. (Her Mom, however looked STUNNING!)
Worst Dressed Man:

Chris Klein. Not quite sure why he was there, but WHITE skate shoes on the red carpet? Really?! No no no!

I figured today would be a great day to post about something that always inspires me- great music! I’ve been finding a lot of cool tunes lately, in a variety of genres. Here are a few videos of my favorite songs these days. Enjoy!
Gotye Ft Kimbra: Somebody That I Used To Know
Seriously I can listen to this song on repeat! Love it so much. Kimbra is awesome too- so check her out. This video is kinda strange but cool, and the song is just so good!
College Ft. Elecetric Youth- A Real Hero
This is a song from the movie Drive. Awesome movie, pretty cool 80′s inspired dance ballad. My husband would say this song gets played WAY too much in our house!
Grouplove- Colours
If you like Modest Mouse and The Pixie’s you love these guys! Such a fun band. I’d highly recommend checking out more of their stuff!
The Belle Brigade- I didn’t Mean It
This song is rad- so don’t let the damn Twilight soundtrack deter you. I hate those movies and the hype- but I LOVE this song. Makes me do a wicked head bob dance.
First Aid Kit- The Lion’s Roar
These two Swedish sisters are an awesome duo. I think they may even be one of my new favorite bands. I love their style and the vocals and lyrics are amazing. Enjoy!
Jamie Lidell- Compass
Totally was not aware this was from a video game…oh well- its a great song none the less. Not much of a video- sorry.
Grizzly Bear- Two Weeks
Cool harmonies. Kinda reminds me of Feet Foxes, but I’m OK with that. Such a dreamy song.
Graffiti6- Free
Little bit of soul, little bit of rock, little bit of gospel- just all around good melody. Catchy stuff right there.
The Sheepdogs- Who
Classic Classic tunes. Reminds me of my childhood. My Mom would love these guys!

5 Tips to keep the ladies and still have a Decem-beard
Posted: December 23, 2011 Filed under: Celebrity, Fashion in General, Fashion News, Fashion Tips, hair, Menswear | Tags: Beard, Beard styles, brad pitt, fashion facial hair, fashionable beards, how to grow a beard, How to wear a beard, johnny depp, maintain a beard, men with beards, men's style, mens fashion 1 Comment »November/Movember brought us boys with mustaches and December/Decem-beard brings us boys with beards. Ladies could be fans of either; so for my manly readers out there, I have a few tips on how to maintain a good-looking beard without looking like a hobo.
1. Long beards looks best with short hair:
2. Maintain the neck beard!
If you have a serious case of neck hair, front and back, PLEASE shape your beard. Just because you are growing one, doesn’t mean your chest hair can attach to your face hair. Ewe.
3. Short beards can have longer hair:
4. Keep your fashion in check:
If you’re thinking of wearing that giant oversized hoodie and ripped up jeans you’ve had since high school, think again. Lets be honest, no girl will give you a second look with OR without a beard. Good hair, good beard AND good fashion equals swarms of chicks!
Vs.
5. Comb your beard:
This is for all my men with curly beards! Take 5 min in the morning and comb it out. Even add a little wax to help tame those curly strands. If you are blessed with straight facial hair, then feel free to run wild and grow a long beard! Curly beards are best kept short.
Conclusion
Whatever you do, don’t EVER, I mean EVER let your beard be the only thing people notice about your face. No girl wants to dive in for a kiss if she can’t even find your lips! If this is the case, that means it’s BAD. So don’t let that sexy face be hidden behind horrible facial hair. Example:

Hollywood’s Most Stylish Couples, Part 2
Posted: December 12, 2011 Filed under: Celebrity, Celebrity Fashion, Entertainment, Fashion in General, Trends | Tags: Celebrity Couples, celebrity fashion, Dianne Krueger and Joshua Jackson, Dinne Krueger and Joshua Jackson Fashion, Fashionable Celebrity Couples, Gavin Rossdale and Gwen Stefan Fashion, Gavin Rossdale and Gwen Stefani, Hollywood's Most Stylish Couples, Justin Theroux and Jennifer Aniston, Justin Theroux and Jennifer Anniston Fashion, Katy Perry and Russel Brand Fashion, Katy Perry and Russell Brand, Nicole RIchie and Joel Madden, Nicole Richie and Joel Madden Fashion 1 Comment »My previous Hollywood’s Most Stylish Couples post seems to be one of my most popular, so I figured I’d redo a list with a few new couples. Here are my votes for the top 5 most stylish celebrity couples:
Coming in at number 5, Justin Theroux and Jennifer Aniston:

Classic with a bit of an edge is what I’d call this pair. Jennifer has always had a great sense of timeless fashion, but Justin brings out a bit of edge in her; which suits her great!
Number 4, is Russell Brand and Katy Perry:

I love how Russell seems to bring out Katy’s “grown-up” sense of fashion. She gives up the cutesy bubblegum pop thing when she is with him, which in turn makes her much more fashionable!
Number 3 is Joel Madden and Nicole Richie:

Being parents has really matured these two, professionally and fashion wise. Nicole has such a fun bohemian style that works great with Joel’s punk rock fashion.
Number 2, and RUNNER UP is Joshua Jackson and Dianne Krueger:

Their style is effortless. Dianne always looks at the top of her game, whether she is on the red carpet or at the airport. She seems to have dressed Josh really well too, because their styles work together perfectly. I know that Dianne personally doesn’t use a stylist which gives them huge bonus points in my book!
The honor of Number 1 goes to: Gavin Rossdale and Gwen Stefani:

Gavin and Gwen have been trend setters since the 90′s- which in my mind is why they deserve the number one spot. They are the coolest parents around; with the most fashionable kids in hollywood and they’ve been together for 14 years! What a great accomplishment in Hollywood. But- back to fashion, Gwen overrides Gavin’s sometimes forever-90′s-rocker-style with her edgy, funky, designer fashion sense. This couple is well deserving of the coveted number one spot.
Who do you think has the best fashion? Do you agree with my choices? Don’t forget to check out Part One of Hollywood’s Most Stylish Couples! I wrote that baby back in 2008!

How To Accentuate Asian Eyes

I’ve been asked lots of questions on how to apply do eyeshadow to Asian eyes, this video has some great basic tips on how to accentuate them!
If you aren’t going out on the town, I wouldn’t recommend her “drag queen” lashes. What you can do for everyday is; curl the lashes you have OR if you want more length and volume, purchase a shorter pair, like MAC’s 1 Lash.

This inspired me to create a new Get The Look post!
Jamie is wearing a retro style party dress, which is perfect for upcoming holiday season. This A-Line shaped dress is a great style for EVERY body type; because of this it is my personal favorite style dress for the holiday season.
With this retro style dress, I recommend keeping the hair simple. You can do a sleek down ‘do, like Jamie did, or a french twist. Keep the accessories to a minimum. I recommend a good strong earring and a clutch. Finish off the look with a pair of black heels- either peep toes or t-straps to keep with the retro feel. For a more edgy look go with a bootie or platform shoe.
Take a peek at my Get The Look style sheet, (see below) for how you can get Jamie’s style. Everything on the style sheet can be purchased online at Mod Cloth.

Last week Jude Law made an appearance at the Beyond Time: William Turnbull premere wearing an awesome look for fall. Jude is known for his edgy but effortless style, and I love this look because it’s easy for men to wear and for you to modify to fit your personal style.
If you are more classic, stick to a straight leg cuffed jean like Jude has done, and if you are more fashion forward go for a skinny cut jean tucked into your boots. Maybe fedora’s aren’t your thing? Go for a slouchy touque/beanie instead.
Take a look at my Get The Look style sheet below for some inspiration. All the items you can purchase online at Asos.
Get the Look: Lea Michele in Allure Magazine

Doing her best to channel the sexy ladies of the 1960′s, Glee star Lea Michele is owning the cover of Allure! She looks absolutely stunning! Dare I say, the best we’ve ever seen her?
Do you love Lea’s look? Want to create it at home yourself? Here are a few tips:
-Fill in your brows, no sexy eye is complete without a nice thick brow
-Find a good waterproof liquid or cream liner. Something that has a small pointed brush. Start your liner at the middle of the eyelid, go until just about the end of the lid, then open you eyes and use the angle of your lower lid as to were to finish the cat eye. Then go back and finish the line towards the tear duct. To find the best angle for that cat eye, take the wand of your brush and hold it diagonally against your lower lash line to meet with the outer edge of your brow. Check out a great tutorial here.
-Go for a nude lip. With such dramatic eyes, a nude lip is best.
-Curl large sections of your hair with a small barrel curling iron, do a light hairspray, then comb it out with a natural bristle brush. To avoid an overly fizzy style, finish off the look with some shine serum or mist.
This should finish off your look, so you too can be the next Sophia Loren!

I have been doing some research and came across a few cute styles that you could wear throughout the day, without looking like a complete idiot! Haha…
Sperry Top-Sider Trinity Boot, $160
Loefer Randall Le Rain Bootie, $165 (Black Is The New Black personal favorite!)
Sperry Top-Sider Hingham Boot, $98
Marc Jacobs, $160
Sperry Top-Sider Albatross Boot, $225
Sorel, $200
Urban Outfitters Matte Rubber Rain Boot, $48
Which of these are your favorite boots? Or do you already own a great pair? If so, feel free to share a link with the rest of us!
