Instantly Modernize Your Wardrobe

You can get one of the hottest trends out there right now, and it shouldn’t cost you any more then $15.  Look for opaque tights! Have fun with color, texture and pattern to instantly update your favorite dresses and skirts.

I love wearing my colored tights when you least expect them- they look great with a monochromatic look or you could accent the color on your legs with your purse, or scarf. They also look really hot with a strappy or peep toe shoe. And if you’re scared of color- just rock the black tights! Any age can do this!!

Pattern tights are lots of fun too. I’m not talking about boring old fishnets- I’m talking rose patterned, paisley patterned, you name it- its fun! And if you’re worried it looks to crazy on your legs, just show a hit of pattern or color by wearing your dress or skirt with boots! Its a great way to ease into this fashion trend.

So ladies- throw out your sheers!!! They are SO 3 years ago!! Plus, these styles will keep your legs so much warmer!!

Curvy girls can wear skinny jeans!

Have you been worried you cannot hop onto the skinny jean band wagon? Do you think as a curvy girl you can’t do it?  Well I’m here to surprise you- EVERYONE can wear them- you just need to know how. Here are a few tips:

For my lovely curvy girls:

- Make sure you wear them with the right length top. Look for a loose-fitting longer style shirt, something that hits just below the widest part on your hip.

- If you want to wear a more fitted style top, it should still cover at least half of your bum. Also layer it up- work a boyfriend blazer or a cardigan.

- Always wear a darker wash- it’s universally more flattering.

- Look for a rise that is mid to high, you may have to search a little longer, but they are out there! Trust me, the lower you go, the more uncomfortable you will be!

- Still think, you’re too curvy? Wear some heals, girl! They will make your legs look longer, you’ll walk taller and you will just feel 100% hotter!

SEPHORA IS OPENING!!!!

If you love makeup, hair products, skin solutions and girly/manly bath things then you will think you have died and gone to heaven once you set foot into SEPHORA. If you haven’t been to one in the U.S or Toronto yet,  it is a plethora of different brands (from Dior to Too Faced to OPI etc…)  and the sales associates are not bias to one brand- they really do tell you what is the best of the best!

The downtown store (Pacific Centre) and Coquitlam Centre are opening on JULY 10!! Mark your calendars, there is sure to be some crazy gate crasher sales!!

The Metrotown store is set to open in Fall (along with FOREVER 21!!) yay!

Men in Shorts

Due to the recent flood of great weather, I feel the urge to guide men in the area of buying shorts. Similar to my ladies shorts post, there are quite a few nice styles at Urban Outfitters. First, here’s a few tips when buying shorts:

-If you are under 5′9″ the length of the shorts must be 1″-3″ above the knee. Anything longer will end up making you look shorter.

-If you are over 5′9″ you can wear a longer short. No capri’s please!

-Think about the footwear you are wearing- it must be a sandal or a casual city shoe, NO chunky white gym shoes or dressy loafers.

-Do NOT wear socks. If you must due to a foot issue, make sure they are ankle socks!

-Trunks/board shorts are NOT meant to be worn anywhere else but the beach!!!!!!

The Top 5 Most Stylish Kids in Hollywood

The kids of celebrities seem to be taking over the pages of every magazine these days..so lets see who is the most fashionable of them all shall we?

5. Violet Affleck- She is almost always flashing those beautiful dimples of hers, which make any outfit look that much cuter.  She seems seems to love wearing pig tales and summer dresses!

4. Kingston Rossdale- a little bit of rock and a little bit of reggae, that’s Kingston’s style…needless to say I think he’s a perfect mix of his parents!

Highlights from the Canadian Fashion Weeks

All the skinny-over-caffeinated-indoor-sunglass-wearing-people have gone into hiding again, which means that all the major fashion weeks have come to a close! Looking back on all the shows, in fall 2009 we’re seeing lots of black, metallic and form fitting clothes with interesting shapes. Here are a few stand outs from Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver Fashion Week:

Denis Gagnon from Montreal Fashion Week: There was an amazing mix of fabrications from silks, to leathers to furs. He used his skills in draping to create edgy yet feminine looks. We also saw lots of a-symmetry in the hemlines, at the waist and at the neck.

Marie Saint Pierre from Montreal Fashion week: Her show wowed right from the start. It was full of lots of ruffles, pleats and draping. She created beautiful clothes with lots of volume and drama.

Evan Bidell from Toronto Fashion Week: Yes, he was the winner of season 1 Project Runway Canada, and for good reason! His line stood out on the runway- in a good way! Lots of tight leather jackets- crazy oversized knit scarves and color color color!

Andy The-Anh from Toronto Fashion Week: Lots of texture! That’s what Andy The-Anh is all about for fall. Sexy swing coats, stunning evening wear and the perfect little cocktail dress is what we saw. Lots of teal and orange accents with emphasis around the waist. Perfect clothes made for a sophisticated and glamorous lady.

Joseph Domingo from Vancouver Fashion Week: This collection had brilliant tailoring. Lots of corsets with skinny pants which seemed to be inspired by Lady GaGa. Joseph accented even each garment with touches of gold and silver. Lots of sparkle and lots of shine is whats hot for fall 2009.

So don’t throw out your leggings they are here to stay- especially shiny or leather ones. Pair your favorite evening dress with a motorcycle jacket and most of all don’t forget to wear black!
