2013 Golden Globe’s Fashion Review

Amy Pohler and Tina Fey

The Golden Globe Awards aired last night, and the ladies of comedy; Amy Poehler and Tina Fey stole the show. With their brilliant one liners and feminine charms they totally wooed the audience. So much so, I hope to see them hosting again!

Now lets take a look at some of my looks from last night’s red carpet:

2013 golden globeHere are three of my favorite ladies rocking flashy black dresses. Nicole Kidman’s dress was quite stunning on live TV, it certainly accentuated her tiny waist. I love the shape of Selma Hayek’s sequin number and Helen Mirrian; she’s like a good bottle of wine and just keeps getting better with age!

Golden Globe fashionWhite was a popular choice on the red carpet this year. I think one of my favorite looks was Hayden Panettiere’s beautifully soft Cavalli dress. Jennifer Lopez always stuns, and this lovely delicate lace dress was no exception. The biggest surprise for me came from Michelle Dockery from Downton Abbey. A very bold yet simple statement gown by Alexandre Vauthier. Quite different from what we usually see her in on Downton!

I have to say, my best dressed lady at the Golden Globe Awards was Jennifer Lawrence, who also took home the award for Best Actress in a Comedy:Jennifer Lawrence Golden Globes

This beautiful Dior Haute Couture gown accentuated Jennifer’s curves in all the right places. Her hair looked soft and feminine and that silver clutch is killer! Anyone else super excited for the new Hunger Games?!

The most best dressed couple goes to Jon Hamm and his gorgeous girl, Jennifer Westfeldt:

The biggest and boldest choice of the night goes to none other than Lucy Liu:Lucy Liu Golden Globes

I think this is a dress that you either love or hate. I personally LOVED this Carolina Herrera gown. The shape and the colours were so pretty! The only reason she didn’t beat out Jennifer Lawrence for my best dressed was because of that hair. Love braids, but this one was a little to distracting and messy for this dress.

Who did you think was best dressed at the golden globe awards? Did you have a favorite moment? I loved Jodie Foster’s emotional speech. Pretty sure she had everyone in tears. What about Adele, seriously could she be any cuter? And I must say, Kristen Wiig and Will Ferrell almost stole the show with this awesome presenting speech:

Diane Kruger Owns The Cannes Festival

Every year Cannes comes around and Diane Kruger rules the red carpets. She stuns. Something about her style is just so effortless yet glamorous. Can you believe she is her own stylest? She defiantly gets extra points for that!

Here is Diane at the film festival Jury Photo Call wearing a Versus’ dress and Jimmy Choo shoes.

Dianne takes over the Cannes Opening Ceremony! She is wearing a custom Giambattista Valli Haute Couture gown.

Best Dressed at the Met Gala 2012

January Jones in Versace

January was the best dressed of the night! She sunned in bright yellow!

Nina Dobrev in Donna Karan.

She came in a VERY close second. This dressed looked so beautiful on the red carpet. I watched the live feed and it was such an eye catcher!

Dianna Agron in Carolina Hererra.

I just love this color on her and I WANT her hair!

Katharine McPhee in Elie Saab.

What a pleasant surprise! Never seen Katharine look so great!

Camilla Belle in Ralph Lauren Collection.

She looked beautiful, classic and had great make-up!

Diane Kruger in Prada.

She’s always a favorite of mine, and love it or hate it I I thought she rocked this dress!

Carey Mulligan in Prada.

She always knows how to dress for her petite frame. I was hoping she’d appear with her new husband Marcus Mumford but no. :-(

Gisele Bundchen in Givency and her hubby Tom Brady in Tom Ford.

They were best dressed couple of the night!

Kate Winslet Stuns at the Premiere of Titanic 3D

As most of you know, I am a huge fan of Kate Winslet. She never disappoints. Kate always looks like a million bucks on the red carpet! Here she is at the premiere of Titanic 3D looking absolutely fabulous. (Seriously, how does she do it? She seems to be getting BETTER looking with age!)

Kate is wearing a Jenny Packham gown and Charles Goode for Goode & Son Jewelry.

There’s something about French Men…

…I don’t know what it is, but if you’ve seen the silent film The Artist, you will know what I am talking about. There is a certain charisma that French actor Jean Dujardin exudes off the screen. Something that not just any actor could pull off without speaking!

When I stumbled across these photos in this months GQ I had to share with you! Jean Dujardin to me seems like a more charming, dashing version of Jon Hamm. Maybe it’s the accent? Check out this great quote from his GQ interview; “I learned to tap-dance for The Artist. I love dancing in general, and making girls dance. My generation doesn’t do it enough.” YES! All men take note.

Enjoy the fashion in this photo spread. Lots of stylish plaid suits to come for spring/summer.

Notice, no socks? If you are wearing a light summer suit it is essential that you do not wear any socks! Which means you’d better be wearing some nicely kept leather loafers!

Plaid shirt with a plaid suit. This works because of the ratio the shirt to the suit. The shirt has more of a bold larger check, and the suit is subtle. The pocket square keeps it nice and classy, despite the lack of tie.

This is a bold look, you’d have to be very confidant to pull this one off! Reminds me of 1970′s James Bond. If you want to try this, avoid over referencing the 70′s by keeping your shoes modern and your lapel and shirt collar narrow.

Every guy should try this look. It’s a classic, and one of my personal favorites. You could wear this with dark jeans for a semi-casual look or wear the full suit to a wedding, without overdoing it. Notice the pocket square? I’m sensing the pocket square is the new tie.

If you haven’t seen it yet, here is the trailer for The Artist. (I recommend checking it out before The Oscar’s on Feb 26th, because its sure to win)

Best And Worst Dressed at the 2012 Golden Globes

The 69th Annual Golden Globes were on Sunday, and the red carpet fashion was quite tame this year. We saw lots of pale pinks and grey as well as a few peacock blues. Here are my votes for the best and worst dressed at the Golden Globes. The best dress are in order of my favorites. Take a look and tell me if I missed any of your favorites!

Best Dressed:

Nicole Kidman in Versace.

I can’t remember the last time she looked so amazing! She looks like a beautiful Greek statue! This shape is stunning on her, and it seems like she has stopped getting work done, which means we can see her smiling again!

Sophia Vergara in Vera Wang.

It’s not that different of a look for Sophia, but she knows what works for her curvy body type. I loved the colour and the close up red carpet shots, the bottom of the dressed looked really beautiful.

Reese Witherspoon in Zac Posen.

I don’t know what was but she was glowing last night! I’m not normally a huge fan of her on the red carpet but she looks absolutely stunning here. I especially love her make up, very subtle but enough to make an impact.

Claire Danes in J. Mendel.

She was one of the first people I saw on the red carpet and I instantly loved her dress. She always opts for something pretty classic, but the back adds an edgy twist.

Salma Hayek in Gucci.

I loved the close up shots of this dress. I liked that it was a bit different from most styles that were on the red carpet. Just when you think Salma couldn’t be more beautiful she knocks one out of the park!

Charlize Theron in Dior.

At first glance I wasn’t sure about this dress, but the more and more I saw it I grew to love it. I also loved her hair and make up. It completes the overall look perfectly.

Worst Dressed:

Most people on the red carpet played it pretty safe and looked beautiful, but unfortunately there was 2 people that didn’t quite do it for me. Here are my picks for worst dressed;

Zooey Deschanel in Prada.

I hate to say this, because I am a huge fan of Zooey’s but this dress was not flattering on her petite frame, and her hair…yikes. You can’t really tell in this photo, but in some angles, one of her layers looked like side burns…not a look you want to go for. On a brighter note, her make up looked amazing!

Angelina Jolie in Atelier Versace.

When she first hit the red carpet I didn’t mind this dress, but as the night grew on she looked uncomfortable and cold. The fabric of this dress cheapened it to me, and I did not like how thin she looked last night.

Did you enjoy the awards last night? I felt Ricky Gervais was quite safe last night…there was a few good one liners from Seth Rogan and Meryl Streep! I’m glad The Artist won a few awards, it was a great film. Michelle Williams did a great job in My Week With Marilyn so she deserved the win, even though I’m not sure why it that film was categorized as a comedy/musical…The Golden Golbes are usually a hint as to what we will see at the Oscars, so it should be interesting to see if a few of the same people bring home the win!

My Golden Globe Predictions

The 69th Annual Golden Globes air tonight and this is an awards show I always look forward to. I like when they mix TV and Film stars together. I will be posting my votes for best and worst dressed tonight, but here is my predictions on who a few of the winners could be.

BEST MOTION PICTURE – DRAMA

  1. THE DESCENDANTS
Ad Hominem Enterprises; Fox Searchlight Pictures
  2. THE HELP
DreamWorks Pictures, Participant Media; Touchstone Pictures
  3. HUGO
Paramount Pictures presents a GK Films Production; Paramount Pictures
  4. THE IDES OF MARCH
Columbia Pictures, Cross Creek Pictures, Exclusive Media Group, Crystal City Entertainment; Sony Pictures Releasing
  5. MONEYBALL
Columbia Pictures; Sony Pictures Releasing International
  6. WAR HORSE
    DreamWorks Pictures; Touchstone Pictures

I really wanted to see The Descendants before tonight, but I never got the chance. I heard it was good. I have a feeling that The Help is going to win this one.

BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTRESS IN A MOTION PICTURE – DRAMA

  1. GLENN CLOSE in Albert Nobbs
  2. VIOLA DAVIS in The Help
  3. ROONEY MARA in The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo
  4. MERYL STREEP in The Iron Lady
  5. TILDA SWINTON in We Need to Talk About Kevin

Meryl Streep once said; the way to win an award is to do a bio-pic, which means she probably will win for her portrayal as Margaret Thatcher.  However I think Viola Davis should win. She had a Stellar performance by her in The Help.

BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTOR IN A MOTION PICTURE – DRAMA

  1. GEORGE CLOONEY in The Descendants
  2. LEONDARDO DICAPRIO in J. Edgar
  3. MICHAEL FASSBENDER in Shame
  4. RYAN GOSLING in The Ides Of March
  5. BRAD PITT in Moneyball

Again we have a bio-pic actor, Leonardo Dicaprio, so the vote could go to him- but I think Brad Pitt deserves and award; however Ryan Gosling is well overdue. This one will keep us on the edge of our seats for sure!

BEST MOTION PICTURE – COMEDY OR MUSICAL

  1. 50/50
Summit Entertainment and Mandate Pictures; Summit Entertainment
  2. THE ARTIST
a La Petite Reine – Studio 37 – La Classe Americaine – JD Prod- France3 Cinema – Jouror Production-uFilms coproduction; The Weinstein Company
  3. BRIDESMAIDS
Universal Pictures, Relativity Media, Apatow Productions; Universal Pictures
  4. MIDNIGHT IN PARIS
A Mediapro, Versatil Cinema & Gravier Production; Sony Pictures Classics
  5. MY WEEK WITH MARILYN
The Weinstein Company; The Weinstein Company

I’ve seen all of these nominations and I loved each and every one! I have a feeling it could go to The Artist, since it was so different…but I have a major soft spot for Midnight in Paris, it was one of my favorite films of the year!

BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTRESS IN A MOTION PICTURE – COMEDY OR MUSICAL

  1. JODIE FOSTER in Carnage
  2. CHARLIZE THERON in Young Adult
  3. KRISTIN WIIG in Bridesmaids
  4. MICHELLE WILLIAMS in My Week With Marilyn
  5. KATE WINSLET in Carnage

If you want to give the award to a true comedic actor, I think the award goes Kristen Wiig, but Michelle Williams did an amazing job as Marilyn Monroe, and its a bio-pic so I think she might take this one. The tricky part is these two are up against two very popular award winners; Kate Winslet and Jodie Foster.

BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTOR IN A MOTION PICTURE – COMEDY OR MUSICAL

  1. JEAN DUGARDIN in The Artist
  2. BRENDAN GLEESON in The Guard
  3. JOSEPH GORDON-LEVITT in 50/50
  4. RYAN GOSLING in Crazy, Stupid, Love
  5. OWEN WILSON in Midnight In Paris

Man, this one is a hard one for me to pick…Jean Dujardin did an amazing job in The Artist, but he didn’t actually speak! Joseph Gorden-Levitt was so raw and emotional in 50/50 that I think he could be a serious contender, but I think Ryan Gosling could potentially take this one…he’ll either get one for Ides of March or Crazy, Stupid, Love. I preferred him in this film because it was a role we haven’t really seen him play before and he knocked it out of the park!

BEST TELEVISION SERIES – DRAMA

  1. AMERICAN HORROR STORY (FX)
    Twentieth Century Fox Television
  2. BOARDWALK EMPIRE (HBO)
Leverage, Closest to the Hole Productions, Sikelia Productions and Cold Front Productions in association with HBO Entertainment
  3. BOSS (STARZ)
Lionsgate Television in association with Grammnet NH Productions, Roya Productions and Old Friends Productions
  4. GAME OF THRONES (HBO)
Bighead, Littlehead, 360 Television, Grok and Generator Productions in association with HBO Entertainment
  5. HOMELAND (SHOWTIME)
SHOWTIME Presents, Teakwood Lane Productions, Cherry Pie Productions, Keshet, Fox 21

I think Game of Thrones should win, but Boardwalk Empire has Martin Scorsese behind the show, and they have won in the past. Game of Thrones has my vote! ( I’m majorly looking forward to April when season 2 comes out!)

BEST TELEVISION SERIES – COMEDY OR MUSICAL

  1. ENLIGHTENED (HBO)
Ripcord Productions in association with HBO Entertainment
  2. EPISODES (SHOWTIME)
SHOWTIME Presents, Hat Trick Productions, Crane Klarik Productions
  3. GLEE (FOX)
Ryan Murphy Television in association with Twentieth Century Fox Television
  4. MODERN FAMILY (ABC)
Levitan-Lloyd Productions in association with Twentieth Century Fox Television
  5. NEW GIRL FOX
Chernin Entertainment in association with Twentieth Century Fox Television

I just watched all of the first season of Enlightened in one weekend and thoroughly enjoyed it. But I think this one will be a toss-up between Glee and Modern Family. We all could get a surprise and New Girl could take it, it has been getting lots of buzz.

What are some of your predictions? Do you agree with what I have chosen? I guess we will have to wait until tonight and officially find out. I’ve been looking forward to this awards show because Ricky Gervais is just plain awesome. I saw in an interview that he is NOT handing in his jokes for approval, which means its going to be just as funny as last year! I mean honestly, when was the last time you laughed out loud during an awards show? This guy MAKES the show!

Best Dressed at The 2012 People’s Choice Awards

It’s the start of the awards season, and if THIS is what we have to look forward to, I’m not going to have too much to write about! Everyone seemed to go quite tame and a little on the casual side this year. However, I was able to scrounge a few favorites, and of course my least favorites!

Best Dressed Female:

From the new series “Once Upon A Time”, Ginnifer Goodwin. Amazing hair, stunning make up, shoes are killer and that dress is bold but fits her like a glove. A+ for her!

Best Dressed Man:

Ian Somerhalder from the show “Vampire Diaries”. Had he worn a tie with the pocket square it would have been too dressy. He had the perfect amount of class for an event like this.

Worst Dressed Female:

Kelly Osbourne. Considering she’s is on E! Channel’s “Fashion Police” you’d think she would have made a little more effort. (Her Mom, however looked STUNNING!)

Worst Dressed Man:

Chris Klein. Not quite sure why he was there, but WHITE skate shoes on the red carpet? Really?! No no no!

20011 Emmy’s Best Dressed

I quick overview of my favorites from the 2011 Emmy Awards. Did I miss anyone?

Sophia Vergara

Kaley Cuoko

Julia Stiles

Kristen Wiig

Nina Dobrev

Matching Men at The Oscars

The Oscars brought us some good-looking hosts, but what caught my eye was the men introducing the award nominees. They seemed to co-ordinate their outfits this year!

First was Josh Brolin and Javier Bardem in white Tuxedos:

It seemed as though they had some sort of inside joke going on, because towards the end Javier could hardly hold it together. You could certainly tell these guys were good friends.

Then we got to see two more good-looking co-starts Jude Law and Robert Downey Jr:

The two of them were matching in Navy, which is a pleasant change from the normal black suit. Jude and Robert obviously had some great chemistry, dissing each other in front of everyone! I love it that RDJ can make fun of himself. Doesn’t that make so much cooler then he already is?

10 Best Dressed Ladies Of The 2011 Oscar’s

The Oscar red carpet was a little bit of  a let down this year. Nothing really WOWED me. Everyone looks pretty and nice, but overall it seemed like simple won over on the red carpet. Here are 10 of my favorite looks of the night.

Trend 1: RED. Everyone who chose that color could do no wrong in my eyes.

Anne Hathaway won my vote for the best red dress. She looked stunning in this Valentino number. Fit her like a glove…I think her best dress of the entire night was this one on the red carpet.

Sandra Bullock looked sleek, simple and stunning!

Jennifer Hudson looked absolutely amazing! What a way to show off that new figure she has. Georgous!

Jennifer Lawrence from Winter’s Bone looks super classic and chic in this Calvin Klein dress. A little like a Baywatch babe- but stunning none-the-less.

Trend 2 – NEUTRALS. This personally was my favorite trend on the red carpet. It is a great timeless look.

Halle Berry was my favorite by a long shot. She looked angelic in this Marchesa gown.

This long sleek sheath looked great on Celine Dion’s statuesque figure. Didn’t she just have twins a few months ago? Wow.

Hailee Steinfeld from True Grit looked too adorable in her gown! This 14 year old did it right! She dressed her age yet managed to look elegant for the red carpet.

Mandy Moore looked great in this Monique Lhuillier dress. I love how you dont konw where the sequins begin and end.

Trend 3- PURPLE. Both dresses were flowy and both were worn by the lovely ladies of Black Swan.

Pregnant Natalie Portman was absolutly glowing in this Rodarte gown. The color was amazing on her and the neckline beautifully framed her face.

Mila Kunis just bareley made my list. I love the way this Elie Saab dress fits and I love the style but I’m not a super big fan of the color on her. Overall its still a win for Mila.

Who were some of your favorites of the night?
